After almost two years of silence following the end of season 2, Jujutsu Kaisen has finally teased the development of Season 3 with a trailer, confirming the anime is scheduled for release in January 2026. The anticipation for the upcoming season is especially high considering how the previous one unfolded, leaving fans on the edge of their seats by its conclusion. While Yuji Itadori did prevail against one of the most hated anime villains, Mahito, the impact left behind by the villain was far greater.

The twist revealing that Geto Suguro was actually possessed by a sorcerer named Kenjaku only heightened fans’ excitement to see what comes next. Fortunately, the teaser for the upcoming season provides several details about what lies ahead. The hints included in the trailer suggest not only many thrilling battles but also one piece of bad news for fans.
4) Maki’s Development
Maki Zenin is one of the few characters heavily highlighted in the new trailer, teasing her development following her encounter with Jogo during the Shibuya arc, and it is exciting news. Maki’s appearance seems to have changed drastically; she now looks more muscular, has shorter hair, and bears the scars left after being burned by Jogo. However, the trailer also hints at how she gains this new transformation, and it appears to be tragic.
Maki is shown holding her twin sister, Mai Zenin, suggesting something unfortunate for the latter. The new Maki is also seen facing several human enemies at once, implying inner conflict with the Jujutsu higher-ups. It seems likely she is either fighting to reach her sister or reacting to something that happened to her. In any case, this teaser confirms that Maki will return with a powerful new transformation.
3) Gojo’s Absence
As much as fans would love to know what is happening with Gojo Satoru after his imprisonment inside the Prison Realm, it is unfortunate that the season 3 trailer does not emphasize his whereabouts. The trailer does not even show other characters discussing any plans to locate the Prison Realm or rescue Gojo, suggesting that the upcoming season will focus heavily on the development of other characters.
While this may be disappointing for fans eager to see the strongest sorcerer return, his absence creates an opportunity for others to take the spotlight. The trailer highlights Yuki Tsukumo as the new lead among the sorcerers, and considering she is regarded as one of the strongest, it makes sense. With her taking the lead, it seems the upcoming season will focus on the sorcerers deciphering Kenjaku’s plan while holding off on rescuing Gojo for now.
2) Choso Vs Naoya Zenin
Specifically, two fights were prominently highlighted in the trailer, one of which features Choso against Naoya Zenin. The trailer confirms that Choso is fully embracing his role as Itadori Yuji’s big brother and appears to be protecting Yuji from Naoya, a new character who will be introduced in the series. Naoya Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu seem to be joining forces to hunt down Yuji, which aligns with how the previous season ended.
The trailer particularly emphasizes Choso’s determination to take on Naoya after he appears to have harmed Yuji. The brief sequence shows Choso struggling against Naoya, confirming that Naoya, coming from the renowned Zenin clan, is indeed stronger. This sets up one of the major fights fans can look forward to in the upcoming season.
1) Yuji Vs Yuta
By far, the biggest takeaway from Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 trailer is the fight sequence between Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu highlighted in the teaser. This battle will serve as the first major development of the upcoming season, and it makes perfect sense as it directly follows the events of the Shibuya Incident, which revealed that Yuta’s first course of action would be to kill Yuji in order to fulfill the binding vow he made to the higher-ups.
The trailer strongly emphasizes that Yuji is being blamed for Sukuna’s actions during the Shibuya arc and is now living in exile. However, Yuji refuses to back down in his fight against Yuta, somewhat declaring that he cannot allow Sukuna to scheme against Megumi Fushiguro. With this context, the trailer’s biggest highlight is the confrontation between Yuji and Yuta, with Yuji’s life on the line. It will be fascinating to see how the supposed dual protagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen overcome this predicament.
