Tokyo Ghoul has never been more popular, and it looks like the franchise may be getting ready to expand. With its live-action movie set to debut in the US this month, Tokyo Ghoul will drop another gift on fans in a couple weeks with one important announcement.

Earlier today, fans learned Tokyo Ghoul was planning to make a special announcement. Young Jump confirmed the series would reveal a "major announcement" in the upcoming chapter of Tokyo Ghoul:Re. Right now, the reveal is set to take place on October 12, so fans have a bit to wait until they are put at ease.

Of course, fans are already speculating about what the announcement could be. Some are holding out hope the surprise will be about an anime revival or spin-off series. After all, the original Tokyo Ghoul anime never got to adapt any of Sui Ishida's sequel, but most fans think the announcement will be a bit more bleak.

When it comes down to it, most fans are thinking Tokyo Ghoul:Re's next chapter will confirm the series is about to end.

Fans believe Tokyo Ghoul:Re is about to end due to some rather big parallels the sequel shares with Ishida's first manga. Both stories will soon have the same chapter count and three-part arc structure. The manga creator is know for his use of foreshadowing and numerology, so the reveal wouldn't be too surprising.

Still, the end of Tokyo Ghoul:Re doesn't mean the franchise will end for good. Many fans believe the upcoming announcement will confirm that a third manga series is on its way, and the new release may just focus on the next generation of Ghouls roaming around Tokyo.

So, what do you think? Are you feeling like Tokyo Ghoul:Re is about to end or is the announcement about something else entirely? Hit us up on Twitter @ComicBook to let us know!
