Once the announcement about Attack on Titan’s third season was made, a short preview was released by Wit Studio. The clip didn’t feature any new scenes but it did highlight the cover art of manga volumes. The trades for volumes 13-21 were shown which implied season three could cover most of Attack on Titan’s preexisting chapters. And, if that is really the case, then manga readers know Attack on Titan season is about to get wild.
Here at ComicBook, we are listing just some of the things Attack on Titan’s third season should cover – but do be warned! Manga spoilers lie free and clear below!
You can read the synopsis for Attack on Titan season two below:
Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to restโa horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!
If you are not familiar with Attack on Titan, then you should know the popular anime is renowned for its intense action and gritty story lines. The anime follows a boy named Eren Yeager in an alternate world overrun by massive creatures known as Titans.
These mindless beasts have all but wiped out humanity, and mankind is left to cower in fear behind massive walls. When their sanctum is infiltrated by a slew of Titans, Eren and his friends Armin and Mikasa join the military to help eradicate the blood-thirty monsters. But, as they grow older, they learn that the beasts are not what they appear as long-held government conspiracies make themselves known.
The True Ruler Of The Walls
Following season two, Attack on Titan is all but guaranteed to explore its secretive royal family.
As manga readers will know, the rulers of Paradis’ walls is a rather whacked-out group. The Reiss family sits as the land’s current rulers as they control the ins-and-outs of the walls. By the end of season two, Rod Reiss is the King of the Walls, but the manga sees that shift soon enough.
Anime fans learned Krista’s secret identity this past season as she revealed herself to be HistoriaReiss, the illegitimate child of Rod. The King will seek to reclaim his daughter once he realizes Historia is able to inherit a sacred power which can help her command the Titans once and for all. But, to do such a thing, Historia will have to kill Eren Yeager first.

The Ackerman Bloodline
For some time, fans have wanted Attack on Titan to explore the connection between Mikasa and Levi.
The pair are the only characters of Asian descent in the story, but the fact has never been discussed as length. However, when season three comes around, the duo’s shared lineage will hopefully be given a brief spotlight.
In Attack on Titan, manga readers have learned the two hail from the Ackerman clan. The family was one which existed before the Walls were built, and they were known for producing fearsome warriors. The soldiers often acted to protect the monarchy, but the Ackerman clan was turned on when it refused to support the Walls’ First King. The ruler feared the clan because no Titan could affect the memories of an Ackerman, and the monarchy forcibly exterminated the family save for Levi and Mikasa.

The Basement
During Attack on Titan’s first season, fans knew Grisha Yeager and his basement would be something they returned to.
Eren’s father entrusted his son with a key to the room which Grisha worked in. Fans have since wondered what could be lurking down in the destroyed hovel, and Attack on Titan may just reveal that secret to anime-only fans in season three.
Manga readers will already know the devastating secret locked within the Yeager family’s basement. Eren and the Survey Corps eventually make their way to the basement where they discover some of Grisha’s belongings.
The group finds a photo and note which confirms there are humans outside of Paradis, leading the soldiers to discover that humanity isn’t as extinct as they had once believed.
