If you thought you’d have to wait a year or more for the next season of Attack on Titan, then think again. News broke recently that Wit Studios will release the anime’s third season sometime in 2018, but it seems as if the show will make a comeback even sooner than expected. According to Funimation, Attack on Titan‘s new season will drop in Spring 2018 rather than Summer or even Fall.

Funimation broke news on Attack on Titan‘s comeback during Anime Expo 2017. The massive convention is being held in Los Angeles right now, and the U.S. licenser said Attack on Titan would be part of its Spring 2018 line-up.
So far, there is no word from Wit Studio about the comeback schedule, but fans seem stunned by the show’s planned turnaround.Attack on Titan made its anime debut back in 2013, but its second season did not get released until 2017. The show’s lengthy hiatus was due to continued delays as Wit Studio worked on shows like The Ancient Magnus Bride and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

However, given the success ofAttack on Titan‘s newest season, Wit Studio has vested interest in prioritizing the anime. The second season ofAttack on Titan was loved by fans and critics, but its dragging pace was questioned; The recent season lacked much of the action seen inAttack on Titan‘s first season. Still, Wit Studio did set up the larger universe ofAttack on Titan with season two, so the anime’s comeback is poised to deliver more Titan slayings – especially if rumors about season three’s 25-episode order wind up being true.
