Film Title: Ted

Ted 2

, the follow up to Seth MacFarlane's live-action feature about a middle-aged man and his foul-mouthed, living teddy bear, will be in theaters in June 2015, Universal Pictures announced today. The exact date is June 26, 2015, which is the only weekend in the month not yet staked out by another major franchise film, according to Movie Insider's upcoming release calendar. It does mean, however, that the film will come just two weeks after Jurassic World, Universal's own major summer tentpole. Between Jurassic World and Ted 2, the video game adaptation Assassin's Creed will be in theaters. The following week, the Terminator reboot and the Independence Day sequel will both be in theaters. Ted generated $550 million worldwide and was the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time, which is one of those records that means the movie was impressive, but that it needs so many qualifiers to be a "record" that it's hardly worth noting. MacFarlane returns as writer, director and co-star of Ted 2 along with star Mark Wahlberg. Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, who wrote the original, will tackle the script.
