Marvel has confirmed, through an interview posted on their website, that a new Nightcrawler solo series is on its way this April, as we assumed based on the teaser released just yesterday. The series will be written by longtime X-Men writer Chris Claremont with art from Todd Nuack. Claremont is no stranger to the blue elf, having helped define Nightcrawler's character during his long tenure on Uncanny X-Men and Excalibur. "He's smart, tough, creative [and] daring, with an instinctive understanding of people and situations," said Claremont of Nightcrawler in the interview. "He has a wicked sense of humor and a devastating charm. As his body's designed well outside the box of human experience, so too are his thought processes. His 'normal' is revolutionary to most people; throw him a problem, he'll find a way to solve it that's unique to him. He quite simply is the kind of man [who] others trust; to know him is to have faith in him." Nightcrawler has only recently reappeared in the pages of Amazing X-Men, having been killed during the events of the X-Men crossover Second Coming. The series sees Nightcrawler teaming with Wolverine to try to navigate a mutant landscape that has been radically altered since the last time he was among the living, with Professor X dead and his closest friend split apart thanks to Wolverine and Cyclops' schism.
