In an interview with USA Today, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has finally “said the word” and confirmed that he is working on a Shazam film with DC Entertainment.

However, he could not quite yet confirm whether he was playing Shazam or Shazam’s nemesis, Black Adam, in the film.
“I’m playing a DC character,” says Johnson. “So it is the story of Shazam, I just can’t clarify right now whether its him or Black Adam.”
However, further comments from Johnson seem to hint that it will indeed be Black Adam that he plays.
“I’ve been a fan of anti-heroes for some time, I’ll say that.”
Shazam, affectionately nicknamed “The Big Red Cheese,” is anything but an anti-hero. Black Adam, who Johnson goes on to name as one of his favorite characters since he was a child, definitely fits the description.
Johnson may have made the announcement a bit prematurely, but he says something official is just around the corner.
“We’re going to make the announcement very soon,” Johnson says. “We just hired the writer, so as soon as we close his deal with business affairs we can make the announcement.”
Brazillian website Omelete further reports that the Shazam announcement will be part of a wave of announcements concerning the upcoming slate of films based on DC Entertainment characters.
