The Riverdale series premiere airs tonight, so The CW has released a trio of clips from it in the hopes that it will entice as many potential viewers as possible.

In the first clip, Betty is in her bedroom preparing for a night out with her nextdoor neighbor Archie, who she hasn’t seen all summer. They’ve been friends for a long time, but Betty wants them to be more than friends and plans to make her true intentions known to Archie that evening. Her friend Kevin is with her and giving her advice, but he isn’t prepared for how “hot” Archie got over the summer. His and Betty’s jaws drop when they see Archie getting changed nextdoor, revealing his six-pack.
In the following clip, Betty and Archie are at their favorite diner, and as she is telling him that they should take their relationship to the next level, Archie becomes distracted when he sees the cape-clad Veronica for the very first time.
In the third and final clip, Fred Andrews — Archie’s father — confronts his son about the lie he told his football coach. We then learn that Archie doesn’t want to play football anymore and doesn’t want to take over his father’s construction business one day. So, what does he want? He wants to be a musician!
The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic booksโincluding Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.
Riverdale stars KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mรคdchen Amick as Alice Cooper, and Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Supergirl, Glee) writes and executive produces, along with exec producers Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater. Lee Toland Krieger directs.
