Universal Pictures is clearly trading on the popularity of filmmaker Edgar Wright, the fan-favorite director of films like Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, in the latest bit of marketing for Wright’s film The World’s End, which hits later this summer.Wright, of course, is making the jump from cult films to the biggest movies onscreen in 2015 with Ant-Man, the first Marvel Studios Phase III film and widely expected to be the story that feeds into movies like Doctor Strange and The Black Panther. This makes Wright and his frequent collaborator Simon Pegg, who starred in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek films and does much of the talking in this spot, ideal places to keep the focus, even in a film where Nick Frost (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Sherlock, The Office) are also featured. The World’s End opens in U.S. theaters on August 23.
