Who needs CGI when you have a working 3D printer and a little bit of ingenuity?

Apparently, Stefanos Anagnostopoulos doesn’t. The dedicated Marvel fan recently created his own working replica of the Ant-Man helmet that will appear in this summer’s upcoming Ant-Man film. Posting his work of art on Reddit, Anagnostopoulos explained that only by watching the Ant-Man trailer and reading a few online references, he was able to design his helmet in 10 hours flat.
It then took nearly 50 hours to print out all of the pieces needed to construct the ant-wielding headgear. Once the pieces wereย out, Anagnostopoulos told 3dprint.comย that he coated them with black acrylic paint. Once the base layer dried, he decorated the helmet with decorative acrylics for a movie-ready final product.
And the best part is, anyone can make the helmet themselves sinceย Anagnostopoulos posted his blueprints for free on MyMiniFactory. (Sadly, they contain no secrets on how to shrink one’s self or communicate with ants.) Quick, does someone have a Zortrax M200 printer available?
