Asked by a young fan who the villain in the Season Two finale, “Unthinkable,” was, Amell answered that it was Deathstroke, to which the boy replied that he thought that was a Batman villain.
After a long pause for laughter and some jokey remarks by Amell, the actor finally came up with an interesting tease for a response.
Of course, the second season of the series saw Black Canary turn out to be aligned with the League of Assassins, and forge a relationship with Nyssa Raatko, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul. It’s been widely speculated that Ra’s will play a role in the third season, especially since Canary went back to the League at the end of Season Two and Oliver’s sister Thea left with her father, exiled League member Malcolm Merlyn.
Little is yet known about the show’s third season, although John Barrowman (who plays Merlyn) has been brought on as a series regular. Amell has previously said that the “big bad” in Season Three will not be as omnipresent as Slade Wilson was during Season Two, and that while the size of the cast exploded last year, the upcoming season will be “more intimate.” He, as well as a number of others, have said that they expect the show to cross over with The Flash, although he did say at Phoenix that he hasn’t yet seen any scripts to back that up beyond his cameo in the pilot for The Flash.
Arrow returns in October on Wednesday nights on The CW. Season Two reruns are airing now.
