In a cryptic tweet this morning, Identity Crisis author Brad Meltzer seemed to imply that he will have a new Batman project announced soon.Saying that he’d just received Batman art from “one of my favorite artists…who’s covered me before,” Meltzer promised an announcement soon.Of course, this weekend is WonderCon, a convention perhaps big enough to host such an announcement, but it seems more likely that “soon” is by San Diego Comic Con International in July. With no other information attached, it’s hard to guess who he might be talking about, although “covered” may suggest Matt Wagner, the Mage creator and frequent Batman artist who did covers for Meltzer’s run on Green Arrow.Meltzer’s most recent comic book work was in Detective Comics #27, the oversized “jam issue” celebrating Batman’s 75th anniversary and the second time Detective Comics has reached that issue — the first time, of course, being the character’s first appearance.
Just got sent Batman art by one of my favorite artists. One who’s covered me before. This is a fun one. Announcement soon.
