Warner Bros.’ Black Mass is getting scorched at the box office this weekend by 20th Century Fox’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

The Maze Runner sequel earned $10.9M at the box office on Friday, while Johnny Depp’s Whitey Bulger biopic took in $8.78M. The Scorch Trials is expected to end its debut weekend with $30M, which is $2.5M less than original film scored in 2014. Besides making slightly less than the first, audiences seemed to like The Scorch Trials less than the original, receiving a ‘B+’ CinemaScore as compared to the first’s ‘A-.’

Black Mass will end its opening weekend with $24.8M. And it can’t count on good word-of-mouth as audiences only bestowed it with a ‘B’ CinemaScore. Fuhgeddaboudit!

Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation is inching closer to $200 at the domestic box office. After pocketing $2.36M in its eight weekend its total will stand at $191.8M.
