If you thought after 19 years and four films the Mission: Impossible franchise would begin slowing down, you’d be dead wrong. In fact, the fifth film in the series, Rogue Nation, is making its debut this weekend and just had the best opening day of any film in the franchise. Paramount’s Rogue Nation grossed 20.3M on Friday and is now on pace for a $52.6M weekend. If that figure holds, it will make Rogue Nation the second-best debut weekend for a film in the franchise, behind Mission: Impossible II‘s 57.8M in May of 2000.

Marvel’s Ant-Man should take fourth with $11.9M, pushing its domestic total to $131.4M. Adam Sandler’s Pixels plummeted 66% to nab fifth-place with $10.2M.
As for CinemaScores, Rogue Nation got an ‘A-‘ and Vacation received a ‘B.’
