In an interview with MTV from the red carpet of the premiere for The Leftovers, Christopher Eccleston has expressed an interested in begin a part of the NBC’s Heroes reboot series, Heroes Reborn.
“Of course, yeah, I had a great time on the show!” Eccleston said on the prospect. “Yeah. I’d always be interested. That was a great character. I love that guy.”

Eccleston’s character was Claude Rains, who had the ability to turn in invisible and was a mentor to Peter Petrelli during the first season of the show. His character was explored in more detail in the spinoff graphic novels.
His response is a noticeable contrast from the responses given by other members of the original cast. Hayden Panettiere was largely unaware that the reboot was taking place and seemed conflicted about it when she was told, while Milo Ventimiglia simply expressed that he was not interested.
It’s also a major contrast to Eccleston’s feelings about another former role of his, that of the Ninth Doctor in Doctor Who. Eccleston has been public about how he didn’t enjoy the “culture” of the show, which is why he didn’t stick around for more than one season. He also turned down the opportunity to return to the role in the 50th Anniversary Special.
Eccleston can currently be seen in The Leftovers, Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
