“I think – it’s not just me, by the way, it’s the writer. It’s Steven DeKnight, it’s Jeph Loeb at Marvel, it’s the scripts, and it’s me,” D’Onofrio said. “I think it’s gonna be the … I hope — I should say – I hope it’s gonna be the new way to look at Wilson Fisk. I think that there will be no other Wilson Fisk but this one after we’re all done with it. That’s what we’re hoping for.”
That’s quite a claim — not just because comics fans go into these things with high expectations and entrenched impressions of the characters but because one of the only things fans generally liked about the previous screen interpretation of Daredevil was the late Michael Clarke Duncan’s performance as Fisk.
Asked whether he could reveal anything about plans for The Defenders — the team-up series that the other four Marvel/Netflix partnerships will build to — D’Onofrio refused to give any specifics, while teasing a master plan that has him pretty excited.
“No, not specifically,” he said when asked whether he could tease what other Marvel characters might appear. “I can’t talk about anything. I can just say that they’re gonna go all the way. They’re gonna go super cool — like, super, super cool.”
Daredevil is filming now in New York and will come to Netflix in 2015.
