Here’s everything we know about Deadpool.
Deadpool is part of the X-Men cinematic universe.
As ComicBook.com was first to confirm, Deadpool will be a part of the same universe as the X-Men movies. In fact, Deadpool seems to be the first film in an expansion of the franchise as whole, with a Gambit solo movie coming later in the same year, the next Wolverine movie following that, and plans for a New Mutants spinoff just announced.
With three X-Men movies arriving in 2016, we should begin to see some cross-referencing pretty soon. Writer/producer Simon Kinbergย has stated that Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Gambit will all “acknowledge each other.”
There are plans to turn Deadpool into a franchise.
It took fox a while to finally get Deadpool off the ground, but it looks like it’s here to stay. T.J. Miller spilled that, “The movie is about the origin story [of Deadpool], because they want it to be the first installment of a franchise.” Look forward to more Deadpool in the near future.
Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the confirmed cast.
The confirmed cast so far consists of: Ryan Reynolds in the lead as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as the female lead, and Wade’s love interest, Copycat, Ed Skrein as the villainous Ajax, Gina Carano as the Morlock Angel Dust, T.J. Miller as Weasel, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Colossus is probably in the movie, but Daniel Cudmore is not.
The original script for Deadpool featured the X-Man Colossus, who had been portrayed by Daniel Cudmore in previous films. Cudmore has since announced that he will not be reprising the role in Deadpool, but Fox has not clarified whether that means Colossus was cut or jus recast. Set photos and videosย suggest that at least a CGI version of Colossus is still in the film, but we can’t be completely sure.
Other possible cast members.
An early casting callย for Deadpool hinted at possible supporting cast members. Some of those spots may have been filled, but not all. While many of the roles Fox was looking to fill were described vaguely enough to be anybody, one of them sounded pretty specifically like Blind Al, and we haven’t heard any casting new about her since then.
Deadpool opens February 12, 2016.
