Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor Tops 8 Million Viewers in U.K.

While the ratings numbers for yesterday’s Doctor Who Christmas special haven’t come back yet in the U.S., the show’s native land saw it become the top-rated drama of the day yesterday, topping 8 million viewers.”The Day of the Doctor” brought in 8.29 million viewers in the U.K., about a ten percent increase over last year’s Christmas special. Of course, this year saw Matt Smith depart the show and Peter Capaldi make his first appearance as the new Doctor–so it was bound to be up a little.After the show, Smith tweeted, “To the Whoniverse, thanks a million. You’re the best. I’ll miss you. And I’ll miss the madness.”
