In the interview, in which he also confirmed plans for an upcoming sequel to his cult hit Trainspotting, McGregor said that he’d only seen Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace once, and that he has had to face the criticism before, in spite of never having been to a fan convention to meet the hardcore audience.
“I watched it once, at the premiere, so I’m not in a good position to judge,” the actor said. “They had a tall order, the three films did. The fans waited so long and wanted to feel like they did when they watched the first film, but they were grown-ups by that time. I don’t mind the criticism. I’ve heard it to my face.”
