Lionsgate made some calls to various law enforcement agencies, seeking aid in locating the individuals responsible for leaking a full cut of The Expendables 3 onto file-sharing websites last week. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement has now become involved, according to the report.
“It is our policy to neither confirm or deny that an investigation is underway, unless or until it results in some type of public enforcement action,” said a public affairs officer for the ICE earlier today.
The federal investigation comes after Lionsgate filed a lawsuit against file-sharing sites such as Limetorrents.com, Billionuploads.com, Hulkfile.eu, Played.to, Swantshare.com and Dotsemper.com, claiming that these sites ignored letters from the studio requesting that they remove the film from their servers.
The Expendables 3 opens in theaters August 15.
