It’s pretty early to be getting a trailer for The Hateful Eight, since Tarantino hasn’t actually started filming yet. Tarantino apparently filmed a teaser in time for the release A Dame to Kill For in what could be construed as a way to help drum up some buzz for the Sin City sequel, which is directed by Tarantino’s close friend and Grindhouse collaborator, Robert Rodriguez.
The Hateful Eight is a western set in post-Civil War Wyoming, where bounty hunters try to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception.
The film had a bit of off screen drama when one of the star’s agents leaked a copy of the script, leading Tarantino to announce that the film was cancelled and instead perform a stage reading of the script. Cooler heads eventually prevailed – partly due to a lawsuit – and The Weinstein Company picked the film up. Tarantino confirmed that he was moving forward with the movie at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
The film will star Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, and Kurt Russel and is expected to be released in December 2015.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens August 22.
