While Jeff Lemire‘s been writing critically acclaimed like Descender with Dustin Nguyen on art and drawing Scott Snyder’s A.D.: After Death, he has not handled both duties on his own creation since the end of Sweet Tooth and Trillium.

That series saw the Canadian cartoonist’s profile rise significantly, handling Justice League United and Animal Man for DC Comics and plotting Extraordinary X-Men and Old Man Logan for Marvel.
But now he returns to a creation solely his own with Image Comics‘ Royal City #1.
“Royal City is the first ongoing series that I have both written and drawn since Sweet Tooth and it’s definitely my most ambitious and personal project to date,” Lemire said.
The book deals with a struggling writer returning to his hometown and dealing with a family that still hasn’t quite gotten over the death of his youngest brother.
Royal City #1 releases in comic shops on March 1st, with a FOC deadline on February 6th. Tell your shop to order with Diamond Code JAN170646.
