According to Deadline, Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Jimmy Smits has landed a role in Fox’s 24: Legacy.
Smits, a veteran actor known for his roles in L.A. Law, NYPD Blue and Sons of Anarchy, will play John Donovan in 24: Legacy, “a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations.”

Smits joins a cast that features Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, Teddy Sears and Anna Diop.
Eric Carter (Hawkins), a strong and smart guy who came from a rough background and turned his life around in the Army Rangers, is back home in Virginia with his wife, Nicole. He’s pulled back into action as his past comes looking for him. Carter will ask the CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.
24: Legacy will feature an all-new cast of characters, however, the storytelling will keep the same style as the original series. Manny Coto and Evan Katz are writing the script.
