Clerks 3 Script

While there has been lots of recent news about whether Clerks 3 will be a book , a movie, or both, Kevin Smith has begun working on a Clerks 3 script. Earlier today, Kevin Smith tweeted a photo along with the text, “20 years later, this is the beginning of the end…”The photo shown above is the title page of what appears to be a first draft for a Clerks 3 screenplay. The first draft is dated March 8, 2013. The title page is also labeled View Askew Productions, so the draft is likely for a screenplay, even though it’s always possible that it could be for a book.Kevin Smith has previously mentioned that the reason that he was considering a book was because Jeff Anderson, who plays Randall, hadn’t signed on for a movie yet. While Kevin Smith didn’t provide any insight into why he has begun work on a first draft of a screenplay today, it’s certainly a hopeful sign that something has inspired him to start moving forward with Clerks 3 in earnest.Update: Some more info via Kevin Smith’s Facebook page. It’s definitely a film, and the reason he started today was because today was the day he started shooting the original Clerks twenty years ago. Kevin Smith wrote, “THE BEGINNING OF THE END, 20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS. 20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III. It’s been like hanging out with old friends. And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion… CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make.”
