During a recent Fatman on Batman podcast, while discussing how odd it was to hear British actor David Harewood (who potrays Martian Manhunter) use his natural voice on the set of Supergirl, Kevin Smith sung the opening lyrics to “Portobello Road,” a song written by the Sherman Brothers for Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks — a 1971 British-American musical fantasy film that combined live-action and animation.
Smith then mentioned that he would be open to directing a remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, if Disney ever decided to make one. “Bedknobs and Broomsticks can be remade today,” Smith said. “That movie can so f–king work today. In a world where Disney’s like, ‘Pete’s Dragon!’ and sh-t like that… Hey! I will f–king s-ck d-ck Disney to make the remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks.”
