Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Nova #2, out in stores on March 20, will give fans a look at the current status of the Nova Corps…and it sounds like Sam Alexander is going to have to go the old Kyle Rayner route for his training.Like Rayner, Alexander appears to be the last remaining member of a team of intergalactic peacekeepers with extraordinary powers. Like Rayner, Alexander appears to have little or no idea as to how to use the artifact that grants him those powers. And like Rayner, he’ll be relying on other, unrelated superheroes to tutor him as the Corps remains powerless and disbanded.Could this new iteration of Nova have the same long-term prospects as the ’90s Green Lantern, who still not only exists but has a vocal fan base? It’s difficult to say, especially with so many fans still stinging from the loss of Richard Rider–but attaching the new hero immediately to the “biggest comic book event of the year” and the Guardians of the Galaxy, a hot commodity in anticipation of their movie coming out, seems like Marvel are doing their best to give him a shot.Check out the solicitation text and teaser pages below.
