The cover is an homage to the classic Kenner line of star wars figures, replicating the packaging art and action figures that once lined store’s shelves (and now collector’s cabinets). The cover features a vintage Luke Skywalker figure, replicating how it looked back in yee-olden days. The cover is an incentive cover for retailers, meaning that comic shops can only obtain them if they order a certain amount of standard Star Wars #1 copies. In this instance, retailers’ orders on Star Wars #1 had to match 200% of their orders on Original Sin #8.

“Star Wars #1” will come with a slew of other variant covers, including a Skottie Young variant, a movie variant, a Joe Quesada variant, an Alex Ross Variant, and numerous more.

“Star Wars #1,” written by Jason Aaron and drawn by John Cassaday, hits comic shops on January 14th, 2015.
