Next week, Assassin’s Creed will make its long-awaited cinematic debut. The franchise debuted years ago as critically acclaimed video game, and 20th Century Fox has since transformed the series into a full-fledged movie. Michael Fassbender is the star of the film as he plays Callum Lynch whose ancestors were part of the Assassins. Now, the actor is talking about the franchise’s future, and Fassbender is teasing a film trilogy could be in the works.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Fassbender was asked whether he’d get to suit up as an Assassin again, and the actor said the upcoming movie was definitely just an origin tale.
“This is the sort of origin of his story,” he said. “We have an idea of where he’s going to go over the next two films. We kind of did a three-film arc. We’ll wait and see how people respond to this, but for sure, we have an idea of where he’s going to go next.”
This news isn’t too surprising for fans. Fassbender has been involved with the project since July 2012 when he signed on to star and co-produce Assassin’s Creed. The actor was also responsible for getting Justin Kurzel and Marion Cotillard to join the film, so Fassbender’s clout has certainly helped him get Assassin’s Creed to the big screen. If fans are as receptive to the movie as Fassbender hopes, then it looks like a trilogy could easily be sold to 20th Century Fox.
“Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.
