Many moviegoers were looking forward to Passengers, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt‘s new sci-fi thriller with romantic undertones, the first reviews are starting to roll in and they are rather disappointing.

Considering how much Passengers was built up and how good the trailers are, we were hoping that the final theatrical release would be…better than what top critics are reporting.
Based on the following reviews, it doesn’t seem like the visual effects or two big Hollywood names could even save this film from being a disjointed mess.
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt star in an exciting action-thriller about two passengers who are on a 120-year journey to another planet when their hibernation pods wake them 90 years too early. Jim and Aurora are forced to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction as the ship teeters on the brink of collapse, with the lives of thousands of passengers in jeopardy.
The film was directed by Morten Tyldum, with the script being penned by Jon Spaihts. The producers for Passengers were Neal H. Moritz, Stephen Hamel, Michael Maher, and Ori Marmur.
Of course the reviews aren’t all bad, but they aren’t so good either – and as always, we encourage everyone to see films and make their own opinions, but sometimes…critics are just right and that’s that!
Now, onto the reviews…
Ill-Fitting Action
Tyldum had all the pieces necessary to deliver something engrossing and highly unique, and that makes it especially unfortunate that ill-fitting action detracts so significantly from the experience.

Sexy Space Fun Times
What’s a rather intriguing premise, replete with meaty themes to chew on, eschews all that to focus on sexy space fun times.

Lonely Guy
“Passengers” is the tale of a lonely guy in space, the drama of an ethical conundrum, a love story featuring two of the hottest actors on the planet, and a turbulent sci-fi action-adventure – and for all of that, it manages to be not a very good movie.

Hollow
An unwelcome thematic stain regarding issues of male captivity fantasy and victimization makes the heroic derring-do that dominates the second half ring laughably hollow.
