In the video, Bootleg Universe shows its team scouting locations for the video, filming on-set, and editing the raw footage in post-production.
Though it’s only existed for a week, POWER/RANGERS has become a massive story not just amongst Power Rangers fans, but in all avenues of pop culture. The short film, which re-imagined the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers series through a dark and gritty lens, became an instant hit amongst fans. The television show’s original cast, however, had a mixed response for the extremely dark interpretation, with some saying that it pushed the kid-friendly Power Rangers too far into adult territory.
Matters were then complicated when Saban, who owns the Power Rangers franchise, made multiple attempts to pull the video off the Internet. Those attempts failed, however. POWER/RANGERS remains on YouTube, and currently has more than 12.6 million views.
