Prisoners Director To Helm Blade Runner Sequel; Harrison Ford To Return

Alcon Entertainment has hired Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve to helm the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 science fiction film, Blade Runner.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be set several decades from where the original left off.

Villeneuve also directed the crime-thriller Sicario with Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin as well Canada’s Oscar nominated French language film Incendies.

Production will begin in the summer of 2016.
