Today, veteran independent comics creator Terry Moore takes his ongoing horror series Rachel Rising to ComiXology as his first-ever same-day digital release. While Moore doesn’t do digital previews of new issues like other publishers do, he has agreed to allow ComicBook.com–in addition to running our regular feature The Whatdead which provides commentary on issues shortly after their release–to reprint a few pages of Rachel Rising #5 in order to give fans a chance to get caught up, since he knows how hard it can be to find independent books before they go digital. The story so far revolves around Rachel–who was killed, but still walks around talking to people and trying to figure out what exactly is going on–and Zoe, a very naughty little girl who appears to have some supernatural “friends on the other side.” Below is a sequence from last month’s issue that spotlights both characters and gives you most of what you need to know in order to go into today’s issue with your bearings–although it’s fair to say that you’ll want to check out the rest of the issue to see what mischief Zoe gets up to, and how Rachel got to that point.Following last week’s launch on ComiXology, the first five issues are available there already for below cover price and the first issue–offered for less than a buck–is already on ComiXology’s best-seller list, according to Moore.
