Even if the mystery of Jason Blossom’s murder gets resolved in the first season of Riverdale, the town’s darkness is set to be further explored as the CW recently announced the adaptation of Archie Comics will continue into Season Two.

The series has twisted and distorted classic Archie characters and tropes into something new, taking the typical teen drama and turning it on its head with melodrama and Twin Peaks-like secrets, where everyone has an agenda and something to hide.
And while early episodes played with the Betty/Veronica/Archie love triangle that was a consistent staple for the comics, the show has seemed to settle on Lili Reinhart’s Betty being paired up with Cole Sprouse’s Jughead, breaking from the source material’s tradition for both characters.
Now Reinhart has taken to social media to express her gratitude to the fans for their positive reactions to the series, being thankful to continue the opportunity to portray Betty Cooper for another season on the hit show.

The actor writes:
“I feel the need to express how incredibly overjoyed and thrilled I am that we were given a season 2 pickup.
“To be a working actress with a steady job is something that I do not take for granted. And to be able to work alongside some of my best friends and make a living off of doing what I am most passionate about is something I thought I could only dream of.
“We put our blood, sweat and tears into every episode of this show and the dedication and support our fans have showed us has made it all worth while.
“I’m incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to play such a strong-willed, fierce, and courageous girl. We need more well-written and developed women like Betty in television and film. So thank you to Roberto [Aguirre-Sacassa], our show runner, for crafting this girl whom I’ve fallen so deeply in love with. And to our producers and the CW network for standing alongside us through it all.
“Last but not least, thank you to all of the fans from around the world who have taken these characters and our show into their hearts. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
“I am incredibly blessed. God is good.
Riverdale is taking a short hiatus and will return with “Chapter 8: The Outsiders” on Thursday, March 30 at 9pm ET.
