While the name of the entity seeking to file the trademark remains confidential, the representative – one J.A. Kemp – is reportedly known to have worked with EA, the developer/publisher of Mirror’s Edge, in the past. The trademark falls into the categories of computer game software and entertainment services.

The trademark was filed via the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, and was first noted by a forum user non NeoGAF.

Leaked documents have suggested the EA would unveil a Mirror’s Edge sequel at this year’s E3. The original game was greeted with generally positive reviews, and moderately successful sales.

Mirror’s Edge put players in control of Faith, a “runner” in a dystopian future city, ruled by an authoritarian regime. Following her sister’s murder, Faith is forced to investigate the mysterious Project Icarus. The game featured first-person gameplay that involved performing high speed parkour over buildings, and occasional hand-to-hand combat, to avoid being captured or killed by the authorities.

E3 takes place next week, so it’s possible that EA was filing the last bit of paperwork before making an announcement. EA’s E3 press conference takes place June 15 at 1 p.m. PT, so we’ll likely know for sure by then.
