While it almost seems like a running joke that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s name is attached to pretty much every single comic book movie at some point or another,two different source have now reported his potential involvement in a Sandman movie. Back in November, BadAssDigest initially reported the Gordon-Levitt was in the running to play Morpheus.Now, Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in negotiations with Warner Brothers to produce Sandman along with David Goyer. If the deal goes through, then Gordon-Levitt might direct the film, as well as starring in it. Gordon-Levitt recently launched his directing career with the movie Don Jon.In the past, DC Entertainment Chief Diane Nelson went on record listing The Sandman as the top movie project she would like to see based on a DC Comics property. She even went as far as to say the Sandman universe could be as rich as the Harry Potter universe for Warner Bros.The first issue of The Sandman went on sale in October of 1988. The series was written by Neil Gaiman and featured several different artist during its run, including Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel and Michael Zulli. The Sandman’s main character is Dream, also often referred to as Morpheus and by various other names.
