One of the ads that didn’t get a lot of love here at ComicBook.com last night, but which maybe should have, was a trailer for a CBS miniseries based on Stephen King’s massive novel Under the Dome.Decades in development, King released the book in 2009 to strong reviews and the feeling that the mythology King had done gave him plenty to work with and potential for more to be set in that same world. CBS reportedly feels the same way, with the planned 12-episode series reportedly being open-ended enough to transform into an ongoing TV show, should ratings support it.The novel, which revolves around a community cut off from the rest of the world by a giant, literal dome placed over their town, is reportedly a rewrite of novels King attempted to write in the late 1970s and early 1980s, under the titles The Cannibals and Under the Dome. King has said that while The Cannibals had a more comedic bent and played the horror more like Needful Things, both versions of Under the Dome were more straightforward.
