Taken 3 did exactly that at the box office on Friday. The action thriller earned $14.7 million and the top spot, Box Office Mojo reports.

Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.
The film also stars Frank Dotzler, Sam Spruell, Dougray Scott, Famke Janssen, and Forest Whitaker.
The Civil Rights biopic, Selma, grabbed the number two spot Friday with $3.8 million.
Unbroken came in third with $2.6 million. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ($2.5 million) and Into The Woods ($2.4 million) round out Friday’s top five at the box office.
