From delivering the bad news about approaching storms to trying not to look like a fool in front of a green screen, being a meteorologist is hard work. When they’re not trying to construct computer models to determine where the next super-tornado will strike, they’re driving into the heart of hurricanes in order to broadcast how awful hurricanes are to the masses. And don’t even get them started about El Nino. That’s why we have National Weatherperson’s Day, which celebrates all the hard work that meteorologists do for the community. After all, who else would we blame when a sunny day gets cloudy in a hurry or when SNOWMAGGEDONPOCALYPSE 2016 turns out to be a light dusting?
To celebrate National Weatherperson’s Day, here’s five of our favorite comic characters that would drive a meteorologist crazy:

Storm
Tornadoes, thunderstorms, and blizzards, Storm can do it all.ย One of Marvel’s most powerful mutants, Storm has the innate ability to control the weather with her mind.ย While Storm most often uses her abilities to throw lightning at enemies or create wind currents that allow her to fly, her abilities seem limited only by the imagination of whoever is writing her.ย In addition to the typical storms, floods and other average weather effects, Storm can create acid rain, control ocean currents and screw with a person’s inner ear pressure, which causes one hell of a headache.ย ย
Weather Wizard
Armed with a wand that controls the weather, Weather Wizard is one of the Flash’s most powerful foes.ย While not as creative as other weather manipulators, Weather Wizard’s wand allows him the usual localized control of weather patterns, as well as the ability to shoot lightning at the Flash and other heroes. One side effect of his powers is that any weather he creates affects his emotions (as opposed to other weather manipulators whose moods subconsciously impact the weather). A violent storm will get him angry while a gentle rain makes him sad.ย Judging by his violent temperament, you can guess what sort of weather he prefers creating.
Thor
As the God of Thunder, Thor is more than a rippling six pack and golden locks.ย The Asgardian can also summon lightning and various other weather patterns associated with thunderstorms.ย While Thor is typically shown controlling the weather with Mjolnir, his mystical hammer, he actually doesn’t need the weapon to summon lightning or create storms.ย However, Thor doesn’t have the fine control of the weather that other heroes do.ย While he can shoot lightning at enemies, he can’t control the wind currents with enough precision to fly on his own.ย But who needs self-propelled flight when you just whirl your hammer around really fast and throw yourself in the general direction of where you need to go?
Rainmaker
After discovering that she had “gen-active” powers, Sarah Rainmaker learned that her last name was more than a reminder of her Apache heritage.ย Rainmaker discovered she could control the weather, although she needed specially designed gauntlets to control and effectively use lightning bolts as a weapon.ย After joining Gen13, Rainmaker (a lesbian) had a one-sided crush on her teammate Caitlin and she eventually quit the team after seeing Caitlin kiss her teammate Burnout.ย After DC integrated the Wildstorm Universe into the “main” DC Universe, Rainmaker made her first appearance as an ally of the Movement, a group of activist teen superheroes.ย
Texas Twister
Drew Daniels was just a normal Texas ranchhand until a radioactive tornado bit him and gave him the proportionate strength and powers of a tornado.ย (Actually, Daniels got caught in a tornado that had caused a nearby nuclear reactor to leak radiation).ย Discovering he had the ability to create tornados, Daniels joined SHIELD as “the Texas Twister” as part of a team of planned “superagent” program.ย When SHIELD dropped the superagent program, Daniels returned to Texas, joined a rodeo, and fell in love with Shooting Star, a fellow superhero with a similar rodeo themed powers.ย Texas Twister later joined the 50 States Initiative as a member of the Rangers, Texas’s official superhero team. ย
