Tiny Titans: Return To The Tree House
Art Baltazar and Franco returned to the zany world of their charming Tiny Titans, making us fall in love all over again with the pint-sized versions of DC Comics’ Teen Titans in all of their pre-New 52 continuity. Baltazar and Franco fire on all cylinders here, delivering their trademark style of storytelling that’s anchored in wit, playful humor, and above all else: fun. Where else are you going to see Terra eat rock candy with a straight face?
The Valiant
Valiant Entertainment’s prestige-format mini series may be the publisher’s best effort yet. Seriously. A story that spans literally across hundreds of thousands of year, The Valiant ropes together its biggest and best players like Bloodshot, Archer and Armstrong, The Eternal Warrior, and Ninjak. But don’t call this a team-up book. So far, the story has found an organic and epic way to unite the dissaparate forces together for an event that’s actually worthy of the term. With Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt, and Paolo Rivera delivering the creative goods, you can’t possibly go wrong with this book. Fortunately, only the first issue has been published so far, making for an easy game of catch-up before the next entry drops in early 2015.
All-New Ghost Rider
We have two words for you: Tradd. Moore. There’s a reason that Moore made it on our Top Five Comic Book Artists of 2015 list, and it’s this book. Moore’s work explodes off the page with a cartoon kineticism you’re never going to find anywhere else. The story is equally audacious; a complete reinvention of the Ghost Rider mythos with a new character, a new mission, and even a new set of wheels. That’s right: This Spirit of Vengeance doesn’t ride a motorcycle, but a hotrod, making for a Ghost Rider adventure that you’ve never seen before. Marvel took a gamble on their complete overhaul of the Ghost Rider franchise, andโcritically speakingโit worked. Unfortunately, the series is heading for cancellation with March’s issue #12. But, buy enough graphic novel collections of the series, and maybe Marvel will reinstate it.
