The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lakeshore Entertainment has hired Cory Goodman to write the script for a reboot of the Underworld film series.

The original Underworld starred Kate Beckinsale as a vampire named Selena who becomes entangled in the ongoing war between vampires and werewolves. The film was followed by three others in the series: Underworld: Awakening in 2006, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans in 2009, and Underworld: Awakening in 2012.
As a whole, the Underworld series has grossed $458.2 million worldwide, with Underworld: Awakening, which played in 3D, being the top grossing entry at $160 million worldwide.
Goodman previously wrote the script for Priest, an adaptation of the Korean manhwa series, starring Paul Bettany. He’s also working on the script for The Last Witch Hunter, starring Vin Diesel.
