The Walking Dead‘s sixth season is finally upon us.
With all the excitement to see what’s going down inside the walls of Alexandria and which new characters we’ll meet, we do have to stop and think for a moment, “Which characters are going to die?”

Let’s take a look at the nominees. Be warned, this does mean spoilers for the comic books, which often mirror the events of the television adaptation.
Carter & Other Alexandrians
ย
We don’t know much about Ethan Embry’sย Carter character except that he doesn’t see eye to eye with Rick Grimes.
What usually happens to people who don’t see eye to eye with Rick Grimes? Enough said.
As for the rest of Alexandria – they’re in trouble. Those extras we see running around or throwing in a line here and there are probably going to dwindle in season 6. That massive zombie horde hyped by the showrunners, producers, and season six trailer is probably very hungry and headed to a nice buffet.
Deanna
ย
Deanna’s time will soon be up.
Her job at Alexandria is done. It’s time for Rick to run things. It’s also time for her to go down in a blaze of zombie chomps and gunfire, taking out Carl’s eye.
The iconic moment where Deanna’s comic book counterpart, Douglas, dies in the comic books, factors into The Walking Dead’sย future storylinesย greatly. Whether or not the show stays true to the fall of the Alexandrian leader also resulting in the loss of Carl’s eye from the comics is to be soon, but the safe bet is Deanna joining Regย in the afterlife.
Abraham
ย
A major character death will have to come around this season and it will probably be Abraham.
Abraham’s ultimate fate arrived in issue 98 of The Walking Dead’s comics at the hands of the Saviors. Signs are pointing to the Wolves being the television equivalent of the menacing group but more importantly, Abraham’s death would have a larger impact on the show than his survival would.
Our hatred of the Wolves for his murder will boil and on top of that, if Abraham were to survive, the war against Neganย would be easier for Rick if he had such a strong soldier all along.
Having talked to Cudlitz recently, it’s good to know he is at ease with his character’s demise. “Everybody comes here to die. I’ve read the comics,” Cudlitzย explained. “I know in the comics my character has a lifespan but I also know we’re not doing the comics. There are people alive in the comics that are dead on the show and people that are dead in the comics that are alive on the show. I can’t really worry about any of that. Whenever that comes, it will come.”
Hate to say it but Abraham likely bows out this season.
Sasha
ย
Many suspect Sasha of being the TV equivalent to Andrea, however, that torch is likely being passed to a mix of Carol and Jessie.
While Sashaย may suffice for Andrea’s bell tower heroics, it’s unlikely she’ll make it through the season with all the issues she is battling. It’s more likely she sees someone in trouble and sacrifices herself, having lost the will to live when Bob died, than makes it through the season.
Carol will probably fill in for Andrea’s soldier-like abilities in the long run while Jessie will serve as Rick’s love interest, rather than die where her character did in the comics.
Daryl
ย
Daryl is a wildcard. He doesn’t exist in the comics and never will. While killing his characters seems like it would be ratings suicide, it would also serve as one of the most shocking moments in television history.
Imagine if Neganย lines up the characters, but in addition to Heath, Maggie, Carl, Rick and Glenn – Daryl is there and Neganย beats his head in with a bat. I can see it now, everyone looks on defenselessly and as Rick debates on making a move to help, Daryl softly looks back and grumbles, “Rick, no,” and takes it like a man.
It’ll break viewers hearts and Neganย would instantly be the most hated character The Walking Dead will ever see.
Norman Reedus is also becoming a movie star. With his appearance in Vacation and starring role in Air, it’s possible he moves on to the big screen. However, I doubt Reedusย would ever abandon The Walking Dead and the family of cast members down in Georgia by choice.
Maggie or Glenn
ย
We’re all expecting Glenn to become a home run upon Negan’sย introduction, which is largely expected in season 6, but what if the writer’s pull a fast one on us and kill Maggie instead?
Glenn will have a vendetta which he could never shed and the show won’t have to deal with another baby as the comics do, seeing as the show kept Judith alive and comics did not.
Maggie does go on to become a leader amongst the communities tied together in the comics but it is entirely possible she takes the place of any character’s death on the series.
One, but probably not both, of these characters will say goodbye to The Walking Dead in the sixth season.
