7 More DC/Marvel Crossovers We Need to See After Deadpool/Batman

After years of both companies not working together, Marvel and DC have collaborated on a brand new crossover, Deadpool/Batman. Not only is it an adventure featuring both the Worldโ€™s Greatest Detective and the Merc With a Mouth, but it’s full of backup crossovers featuring some of the companies’ best and most interesting pairs. Not every story was a home run, obviously, but altogether they were a ton of fun, and any fan of either of the Big Two should check it out. The crossover fun isnโ€™t done yet, either, as DC is releasing its own Batman/Deadpool oneshot later this year.

The floodgates are officially open for even more collaboration between the two superhero comics publishers in the future, and given that weโ€™ve already seen how much fun some of these pairings can be, it gets people wanting to see some of their other favorite characters take center stage with an alternate-universe buddy. So today, weโ€™re going to be looking at seven crossovers that Marvel and DC absolutely need to give us at one point or another. Strap in, and letโ€™s start imagining!

7) Ms. Marvel/Robin

Ms. Marvel and Robin are each their companyโ€™s premier teenage superheroes, representing the next generation of superheroics today. Not only would it be cool to see the two young heroes who embody legacy and tomorrow battle together, but their personalities set up the perfect buddy cop adventure. Kamala is a superhero fan-girl who is a bundle of energy, while Damian is hyper-serious and pure business. In other words, he would absolutely hate working with her, and she would be losing it over meeting the Robin of Batman and Robin. Their dynamic has everything we need to go from begrudging allies to great friends, and we can always use more of that.

6) Vision/Red Tornado

Androids with human hearts, Vision, and Red Tornado perfectly reflect each otherโ€™s place. Both are long-standing members of their universeโ€™s premier team, but still always feel like outsiders. A talk between these two stands to be one of the most philosophical and deep discussions on what it means to have humanity, even when you arenโ€™t human, and look at how their friends both help and hurt them with how they interact with the androids. This would be a chance for them to speak with someone who perfectly understands their perspective and feelings, while also giving commentary on both universes as a whole. Itโ€™s a great chance to explore Marvel and DC from some really distinct perspectives.

5) Fantastic Four/The Flash (Barry Allen)

The Fantastic Four and Barry Allen each have a few major things in common: theyโ€™re scientists, incredibly family-focused, and explorers of the unknown. Working together, they could map every planet in the multiverse and beyond, and it would be cool to see comicsโ€™ most family-minded folks interact, but what really sells this crossover is their villains. Doctor Doom and the Reverse-Flash are two of the pettiest people to ever exist, each driven by a singular hatred of a single man so palpable that they have built their entire lives around it. Doom and Thawne could bounce ideas off each other for days until they have the most petty, obsessed, delusional plan imaginable, and seeing dad-energy extraordinaires Barry and Reed deal with it would be so much fun. These dynamics would be nothing short of hype.

4) Black Panther/Aquaman

Two kings of incredible realms, Black Panther and Aquaman would have a lot to talk about. Not only could they bond over their struggles to rule while being heroes alongside it, but also dealing with rebellious sea kings who want to see the surface world burn then drown. They might even be specifically battling Namor or Ocean Master, which Iโ€™m sure would be cathartic for either one of them to go up against. Frankly, I think Tโ€™challa would be happy to talk to an Atlantean who isnโ€™t trying to kill him or obsessed with someone elseโ€™s wife. This could be a bonding experience between two rulers, and help them find a kindred spirit in being of two different worlds.

3) Captain Marvel/Shazam

This idea is structured solely around one joke that, if done right, can be really, really funny. The Captain, also called Shazam, was originally called Captain Marvel, but his name was changed because Marvel has the copyright to the name, and it made advertising him very strange. However, that doesnโ€™t mean he canโ€™t be called Captain Marvel, DC just canโ€™t publish a comic called that. A story where these two are both called Captain Marvel and everyone constantly confuses Carol with a twelve-year-old boy sounds like a fantastic setup for some great jokes and character dynamics. They could even have some kind of contest to determine who gets to keep the name, or we could make it meta, and Carol could sue Billy for the rights. She-Hulk bringing Billy and the Wizard to court would be worth the price of the comic alone.

2) Captain America/Justice Society of America

Captain America may have had his own crossover with Wonder Woman in Deadpool/Batman, but that just makes me want this team-up more. We saw the potential that pair of WWII heroes had, but making Cap a member of the WWII superhero team could let them explore that kind of relationship in even more depth. The idea of Cap working with these heroes, then being frozen in ice and emerging to a new world, thinking he’s lost everything to time, only to find that his old friends are still kicking, if not older, provides such an interesting base for exploring their era of heroism. It could be a powerfully uplifting story all about how age doesnโ€™t make a hero, standing up for whatโ€™s right does.

1) Spider-Man/Superman

This wouldnโ€™t be the first time this crossover has happened, but next year will mark the fifty year anniversary of the first superhero company crossover, Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century. These two are the faces of their respective companies, each representing the ideal about their homeโ€™s brand of heroism. Itโ€™s an entirely different century than when their first one was released, so itโ€™s about time we get a brand new collab between these two. Not only are they sure to have an incredible dynamic, but there would just be something magical about watching two of the biggest names in superheroing work together. If we ever get more Marvel and DC crossovers, this has to be one of them.

So there we have seven groups of potential crossovers for any future Marvel and DC collaborations. At the end of the day, we just love to see our favorite characters interact, so no matter who is chosen for one of these in the future, itโ€™s sure to draw a crowd. Everyone, of course, has their own favorite crossover concept in mind. What do you think? Leave a comment below and join the conversation now in the ComicBook Forum!
