It sounds like the Arrow cast will be growing in Season 5, with a new vigilante taking to the streets of Star City. Whether the new character is a friend or a foe to Team Arrow remains to be seen. The TV Line report describes the character as a “cocksure/reckless ex-Marine turned vigilante.”

However, even with a new crime-fighter on the loose, Oliver will still be focused on his new position as mayor. Showrunner Wendy Mericle says “City Hall, that institution, is crucial to our series.”
She also says that the show’s flashbacks will remain just as vital to the new season. “It’s a very good possibility that we’ll finally find out how he got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian,” says Mericle. “When Oliver says, ‘No one can know my secret’ and he kills that guy in the pilot, we’re going to get some insight into that.”
Arrow is part of the CW’s still growing DC Comics superhero TV lineup, taking up the Wednesday at 8 p.m. timeslot. The Flash was the first spinoff to come out of the show, and characters from both Arrow and The Flash were used to create the time-travelling team featured in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Supergirl will join the the CW’s schedule next season, moving over from CBS for Season 2. Arrow and The Flash have crossed over in each season since The Flash premiered, with this latest crossover serving as a kind of backdoor pilot for Legends of Tomorrow. Next season’s crossover will be the biggest yet, bringing in characters from all four of the CW’s DC Comics shows.
