Fitness pro Aaron Williamson, who apparently trains at the gym with 61-year-old Justice League star J.K. Simmons, has posted a number of photos of Simmons to social media, which are going viral.
Why? Well, because Simmons’s arms look outrageously muscular and, combined with a great, bushy beard, the photos make him look both manlier and harder to recognize than any other photos of the actor I’ve ever seen.

As you’d expect, there have been plenty of commenters assuming that his buff physique has something to do with having to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in the upcoming film, although it could be for any of the numerous other roles he’s currently got listed on his IMDb page…or, y’know. Just for fitness.
Justice League Part One is expected in theaters on November 17, 2017 — the 25th anniversary of DC Comic’s best-selling Death of Superman story. It will star Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Henry Cavill as Superman, J.K. Simmons as Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon, and Willem Dafoe in an as-yet-undisclosed role.
