DC’s leading women have experienced a renaissance of sorts over the last few years, and one of the highlights of that renaissance has been Marguerite Bennet’s Bombshells series. It features some of DC’s most popular icons reimagined in the style of the 1940’s, including fan favorite Supergirl.
The character has been beautifully recreated by cosplayer Sophie Valentine, proving that a sash or a scarf can be a valid substitute for a big flowing cape any day of the week. The costume perfectly mirrors the sleekness and bright color palette of the original design, and Valentine employs a balanced combination of action and pin-up poses. There’s an elegant simplicity to this costume, and Valentine’s version is spot-on.

To get the most out of the costume, it takes a talented photographer, and Estampida Fotografia certainly fits that bill. There’s a nice mix of more grounded shots (like the one in front of the black shutters) where they go with a more natural lighting process and ones where it appears they add in some splashes of warm color digitally, and both are rather striking.
