Wonder Woman is set to take on Ares and Doctor Poison in the upcoming Gal Gadot starring film. While those fights will command the most attention, Wonder Woman has fought plenty of worthy adversaries in the comics, and more than a few times she’s utterly obliterated them.

Wonder Woman’s superior combat training helps mitigate most disadvantages she might face, though there aren’t that many of those either since she contains the power of literal Gods. She isn’t just skilled in fisticuffs either, showing supreme skill with swords and shields, and that doesn’t even include other weapons at her disposal like her bracelets, tiara, and Lasso of Hestia.

Suffice it to say you don’t want to take Wonder Woman lightly, something more than a few characters in the DC universe have learned the hard way.

That includes one of the most popular members of the Justice League, Hal Jordan himself.

Green Lantern

Poor Hal Jordan. You can wield the most powerful weapon in the universe, but up against an angry Wonder Woman it becomes nothing more than a trinket.

Granted, the ring also semi caused the incident in the first place. Back in Justice League #11 (during the New 52), Diana was upset about Steve Trevor getting captured, and was set to head out in search of him. Hal Jordan tried to stop her from leaving with his ring…and that’s where things went off the rails.

Wonder Woman absolutely shatters his construct with a knockout punch to the face, sending Jordan flying down the street. After finally stopping thanks to an idle car, Jordan attempts to take her down with more constructs, but she doesn’t slow at all, shattering anything he can create.

The fight ultimately ends thanks to Cyborg’s interference, but it’s safe to say Hal probably doesn’t want a rematch anytime soon.

Power Girl

Enragedย Kryptonians are the worst sometimes, especially if they are being controlled by someone else.

That was the case in Wonder Woman #41 when Power Girl ended up under the influence of the children of Ares. They filled the hero with misguided thoughts towards her friend Wonder Woman, and that led to a full-scale battle between the two.

Diana took Kara’s punches early, as she was hesitant to let loose on her friend. After a few punches too many though enough was enough, and she efficiently dismantled Power Girl with targeted strikes to the face, stomach, and head. A lasso touch later and Power Girl was brought to her senses,ย

A lasso touch and a bit of appealing to Kara’s independent spiritย later and Power Girl was brought to her senses. It goes to show that pure strength and ability is no match for a tactical mind. The official description of the issue can be found below.

Medusa

Don’t ever let it be said that Diana won’t go the extra mile to secure a victory. If you need further evidence of that, look no further than Greg Rucka and Drew Johnson’sย

If you need further evidence of that, look no further than Greg Rucka and Drew Johnson’s “Eyes of the Gorgon” arc, which took place in Rucka’s first run with the character. Here Wonder Woman has to do battle with the villainousย Medusa, who has the power to turn you into stone if your eyes meet hers.

The best way to get around that is sunglasses, but if you don’t have those around you could always put serpent venom in your eyes, effectively blinding you. That’s just what Diana did, and even blinded she utterlyย destroyed Medusa, lopping her head off to use it in another battle down the line.

It was quite the impressive victory, but Medusa isn’t the only one who’s been defeated by a blind Diana. Hit the next slide to find out who else got the same treatment.

You can find the official description for “Eyes of the Gorgon” below.

The Justice League…Twice

Wonder Woman is looked upon as one of the linchpins of the Justice League, but on two different occasions she’s had to take them down for one reason or another, and both times they couldn’t come close to stopping her.

The first was a more innocent affair seen in Wonder Woman #212. This took place after she blinded herself to fight Medusa. Given that her sight had not yet returned, the rest of the team was worried she wouldn’t be able to fight as before, so they put her in a handicap match against The Flash, Black Canary, Plastic Man, and Martian Manhunter all at once, and set them loose.

What occurred next could be described as a dismantling, as a blindfolded Wonder Womanย is able to predict where Flash will be thanks to the changing air pressure. Flash gets propelled into Black Canary, while she uses Plastic Man as a makeshift whip to take down Martian Manhunter. Superman tries to sneak in some heat vision, which she quickly deflects.

Safe to say her point was made.

The second time occurred in A League of One, where Wonder Woman took out the other Leaguers so they wouldn’t die at the hands of a great dragon.

She systematically takes out each member of the team with varying methods, including teleporting Martian Manhunter into a Volcano, removes Green Lanterns ring with a well placed headbutt, punches Aquaman into the mouth of a Charybdis, beats Batman in hand to hand combat, and sends Superman off to save the rest of the league when she ships them off careening towards an asteroid belt.

It all works out in the end, but Batman isn’t the only one who knows how to take his own team down if he has to.

Superman

Perhaps the most well known of Diana’s battles with other heroes is her throwdown with Superman in Injustice. The two are interlocked in a contest of champions, and Superman was getting the best of Diana early on.

Wonder Woman took some huge punches from the Kryptonian, leading him to plead for her surrender, saying “You can’t win…yield Diana! A vicious headbutt later he says again “Damn it, surrender!”

That flips a switch for the Amazon, as she says “I…Am a warrior born, and this is a fight to the death…I will not bend my knee! But you will!”

With that she elbows him in the back of his knee, and then plants her thumbs in his eyes, gouging them. As he screams in pain she grabs his wrist and bends it at an angle. Wonder Woman then brings a thunderousย elbow to his arm, breaking his arm.

It was a brutal and viciousย victory and one that fans will remember for a long time.
