Ragman may not have lasted very long on Arrow, but the character is making his way back to the DC Universe — in the comics, anyway — this fall.

CBR reports that former Constantine writer Ray Fawkes will take on the series, which centers on a character whose magical suit of rags is granted power by souls kept in limbo to serve him.

Rory Regan (played on Arrow last season by Joe Dinicol) is a longtime DC vigilante who wears a patchwork suit made by his father to fight crime. The suit has the ability to absorb corrupted souls, and once absorbed Ragman can call on their abilities at any time. While it increases his strength and speed, initially absorbing the soul takes a great deal out of him.

First seen in 1976, Ragman was created by DC legends Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert.

Fawkes will be joined on art by Inaki Miranda, whom fans might recognize from a recent Harley Quinn story, and colored by Eva de la Cruz. Guillem March of Gotham City Sirens and the New 52 Catwoman fame will provide covers.

The series, which will debut on October 11, will be the first comic to feature Ragman in a starring role since 2010’s Ragman: Suit of Souls one-shot, per CBR’s report, which also included the following official synopsis:

War vet Rory Regan is plagued by the death of his time after a failed mission to find a hidden treasure in the Israeli desert. While battling survivor’s guilt back home in Gotham City, Regan discovers that he actually bought the treasure back home with him, in the form of the Suit of Souls. The Suit of Souls has the ability to trap and collect the souls of others, including those of his dead partners.

With the aid of his dead teammates, Rory begins to learn more about the abilities of the suit, when something evil begins to brew in Gotham. An evil demon from hell wants the Suit of Souls, and is sending his minions to retrieve it for him. Now Rory must learn how to use the suit and its powers to stop these evil forces from invading Gotham City before it’s too late.
