Dinah Drake isn’t just getting a new costume in the upcoming sixth season of Arrow. She has a whole new confidence and according to executive producer Wendy Mericle that might not be a good thing for Team Arrow.

Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) joined the team last season, stepping into the boots of the late Laurel Lance’s Black Canary. Taking over the beloved Laurel as well as being the new girl on the team may have given Dinah some pause, but in the upcoming season Dinah comes into her own, Mericle tells TVLine.

“She’s no longer the newbie on the team, she has a definite point of view — and I can tell you that that point of view and her new swagger is going to have some real consequences for the team down the road,” Mericle said. “Look out for that in the middle of the season.”

Where that swagger might cause issues is when it comes to Black Siren. Black Siren being Earth-2’s version of Laurel Lance is likely going to have an issue with Dinah embracing a legacy the Earth-2 Laurel might see as her own.

And fans already got a taste of the tense, competitive dynamic between the ladies during the season five finale where Dinah and Laurel had a brief fight scene. Fans will see how that dynamic and Dinah’s new-found confidence spells trouble for the team when Arrow returns on Thursday, October 12th.
