The site is reporting that Aquaman is slated to begin production in Queensland, Australia in May 2017. Previous news reports confirmed that the film would begin shooting in 2017, but this is the first confirmation that production will get underway in May. There’s no specific date attached to the May 2017 prediction, but it looks like pre-production is already taking place abroad. Director James Wan has been out-and-about scouting possible filming locations, and the stunt team for Aquaman is already rehearsing for the big-scale production.

In a recent feature from 9News, the stunt team behind Aquaman was interviewed about their work on the DC Films feature. It was there that stunt director Keir Beck told the site how his team is prepping. They are getting themselves familiar with “general stunt skills and fighting,” but Aquaman will have the added challenge of water-based sequences.

“You know, if there is water sequences, obviously being capable and competent in water [will help],” the director explained. So far, the group’s actors have been busy setting up military drills and wire exercises to prepare for the grueling shoots that will come with Aquaman.

The stuntmen and women for Aquaman are not the only ones preparing for their roles. Recently, it was announced that Patrick Wilson had been cast to play Orm, the Ocean Master, in the movie. As such, the actor has already started to get in-shape for the role, and he posted proof of his gym sessions on Twitter for fans. Wilson caption one of his workout photos, writing that “Orm has to prepare for a battle or two.”

Aquaman is directed by James Wan with Will Beall, Geoff Johns, Paul Norris, and Mort Weisinger on writing duties. Rob Cowan is serving as executive producer and Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder serving as producers. The film stars Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Patrick Wilson (Orm) and Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko).
