Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the actor portraying ruthless villain Black Manta in the upcoming Aquaman movie, channels two wrestling greats for a fun, entertaining video in which he trash talks his on-screen nemesis.
Imitating and blending dialogue, voice and mannerisms of WWE legends Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage, Abdul-Mateen delivers a threatening message to The King of the Seven Seas. “Oh… it’s another day at the Manta-Mansion,” he begins. “And let me tell you something, brother. I’m looking for Aquaman. I got up in the morning and I’m eating my breakfast. I got my eggs; I got my avocado; and I got just a little piece of toast, brother. Only thing that’s missing is some Aqua-tuna to go on top of this breakfast here. I’m gonna find you and I’m gonna gut you like a fish. Ohhhhh yeahhhh, brother!”
For those who’re unfamiliar with Black Manta, the character stands as one of Aquaman’s most well-known foes. Also known as David, the character first debuted back in 1967’s Aquaman #35. The villain, who’s always been intrigued with Aquaman’s power, eventually grows to resent the hero and become obsessed with destroying him. Fitted with a wetsuit costume and weaponized helmet, Black Manta has always used hi-tech equipment (and some enhanced strength) to take on the the aquatic hero on his home turf over the years.
